1993
History

The Cordillera Administrative Region Cooperative Union (CARCU) was established on July 26 as a secondary cooperative organization.

2010

CARCU was re-registered under RA 9520 on January 8, expanding its legal framework.

2011

CARCU initially comprised 2 provincial cooperative unions, 2 federations, 1 cooperative bank, and 10 primary cooperatives, totaling 15 cooperatives.

2013

As Regional winner in the CDA's search for Gawad Parangal for Outstanding Cooperative Union. Being the regional winner, CARCU earned the region's nomination to the national level under such category.

Was awarded by the CDA Gawad Parangal as Third Most Outstanding Cooperative Union last October 9, 2013 on the occasion of 6th National Tripartite Conference for Cooperative Development.

The Cordillera Administrative Region Cooperative Union (CARCU) is a Secondary Cooperative primarily engaged in Capacity and Empowerment enhancement among cooperative officers.

Our advocacy is to empower cooperatives through training, fostering capacity building, ethical practices, financial literacy, inclusive governance, and social responsibility for a resilient and sustainable cooperative.

CARCU pledges to the Fulfillment of its vision, mission, core values, goals and objectives.

Mission

The CORDILLERA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION COOPERATIVE UNION endeavors to:

Unite all types of Cooperatives in the region for better representation and coordination through their respective provincial unions and city unions.

Strengthen the Cooperatives to become self-reliant, viable and sustainable organization of true people empowerment.

Partner with and support the government in its development activities (i.e, economic, social, physical and financial).

Empower officers and employees through education so that they will be able to enhance the knowledge, attitudes, and skill of cooperators within CARCU's area of operations.

Enhance partnership and linkages with other primary and secondary cooperatives, institution locally and internationally.

Our Goals

  1. To represent its affiliate organizations;
  2. To acquire, analyze, and disseminate economic, statistical, and other information relating to its affiliates and to all types of cooperatives within its area of operation;
  3. To sponsor studies in the economic, legal, financial, social, and other phases of cooperation, and publish the results thereof;
  4. To promote the knowledge of cooperative principles and practices;
  5. To develop the cooperative movement in their respective jurisdictions;
  6. To advise the appropriate authorities on all questions relating to cooperatives;
  7. To raise funds through membership fees, dues and contributions, donations, and subsidies from local and foreign sources whether private or government; and
  8. To do and perform such other non-business activities as may be necessary to attain the foregoing objectives.
